Predator and Prey Interaction
Conger Eel: A Conger eel is one example of the many predators in the Pacific Ocean. One of its prey choices is a wrasse, or a small fish. The eel is a top level predator and the wrasse is the prey that's killed and eaten. The ocean is a complex ecosystem with organisms constantly eating other organisms. The case with the eel and the wrasse is just one of many in the ocean.
Host and Parasite Interaction
Cymotha exigua: The tongue-eating louse, otherwise known as Cymotha exigua, is a parasite. It destroys a fish's tongue after entering the fish through its gills. Then, the parasite attaches itself to the fish's mouth and becomes the fish's new tongue. Some types of tongue-eating lice feed on the host's blood, while others feed on the fish's mucus.
